BonafID

Sovereign cloud identity and verifiable academic credentials for African students, researchers, and faculties.

BonafID is a cloud-hosted, open-source federated IAM platform co-created by WACREN and partners. It gives any institution a production-grade identity provider, without on-premise servers, without specialist staffing, and without waiting for national infrastructure to exist.

The problem BonafID exists to fix

Most African HEIs cannot participate in the federation because they have no managed identity provider. Building and operating one from scratch (servers, certificates, staff) is beyond most institutions' IT capacity. BonafID removes that barrier entirely.

No infrastructure required

Cloud-hosted. WACREN operates the platform. Your IT team manages identities only.

Integrates with existing systems

Data extraction tools connect BonafID to your SIS, HR system, or LDAP without manual migration.

Federation-ready from day one

Registered in eduID.africa's federation on deployment. Instantly eligible for eduGAIN and geteduroam.

Lifelong identity

Each user gets a persistent identity that travels with them, across institutions, programmes, and career stages.
